Beware of Online Human Trafficking Recruiters

The United Nations joined countries all over the world on July 30, 2018 in observation of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. This is a global mission to end Human Trafficking and the Department of Home Affairs and National Security has highlighted the four “P’s” of this mission. They are Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and Partnership.

Permanent Secretary in the Department of Home Affairs and National Security and Chairperson of the Task Force on Trafficking in Persons Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey, state that the call to action is to act now to protect and assist trafficking victims.

She further stated that the theme is not a chorus line that should be observed for a day, and that the Department of Home Affairs and National Security remain committed and accepts and supports the UN’s call to action.

Mrs. Bailey emphasized the fact that children and young persons should be made aware of the crime of Trafficking in Persons.

Persons should note that traffickers use the internet and new technologies to lure unsuspecting children and young adults for forced labour, sexual exploitation, organ harvesting and pornography.
