St Lucia has struck gold once again, as female athlete Lavern Spencer won another gold medal for high jump in the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Spencer made a jump of 1.90m, defeating silver medalist Xemina Esquivel Guzman (1.86m) of Mexico and bronze medalist Maria Murillo Duerte (1.86m
St Lucia is now ranked eighteenth for medals in the CAC games as a result of Spencer’s gold medal.
In 2010, she won gold at the Mayagüez, Puerto Rico Games and the 2014 Veracruz, Mexico Games.
Earlier this year, Lavern create history for St Lucia after winning gold for St Lucia for the very first time in the Common Wealth Games.
She said that she wanted to make sure she defended her title and she thanked God for allowing her to win the gold.
