The Bordelais Correctional Facility Once Again Exhibits its Involvement in Rehabilitation

Food as a necessity to life is of key importance in the day to day functioning of the Bordelais Correctional Facility. The prison officials are putting in the time along with the Inmates to bring forth Value added produce unto the Local food Market.

The island’s only facility for rehabilitation of persons  who have  found  themselves  into issues with the law made good in it’s presentation to the public, at it’s very first World Food Day Fair. The public showcasing of the products done by inmates inclusive of the first official showcasing of its signature Macabu Fig was well received. Communication officer at the facility Yasmine Peter spoke with our news team at the 2018 World food day fair activities, held at the Fon Dor National Historic Heritage Park on October 14, 2018. She said that everything that they had on display was produced on the farm at BCF. The inmates are allowed to work to develop and acquire skills so that upon reintegration they would have some kind of skill to rely on.

The St Lucian Constitution guarantees certain minimum standards of living for those incarcerated in correctional facilities and the Bordelais correctional facility seeks to uphold this constitution.
